Class idea: Bard? o.o
So like my idea is that Anet will try and hit on every possible class of originality that doesnt quite cross over 2 other classes.
Like we have the warrior, the wizard, the assassin, the monk/cleric, whatever a mesmer is, the necromancer, and the ritualist which kind of goes around a shaman/caster guy.
Next it looks like an unarmed fighter, which sounds good to me =)... but what would go in the weapons slot? Would bracers represent their unarmed damage or like... brass knuckles?
And some double bladed staff person... medieval jedi?
Another class that should be touched on o.o... the bard!
Using skills such as music mastery.... or something where he deals more damage with an instrument... kind of like ragnarok online's bard o.o
I could imagine how cool like high-level end harps would look like >.> Imagine like an angelic feather harp of pwness. Or like the mandolin of the oni! PHEER MY PAN PIPES!
He would make a great support dude o.o in D&D they are made for inspiring their allies (not inspiration magic like a mesmer) and giving them bonuses to damage, etc.

I still don't want to believe they are adding two melee classes. I think the unarmed man is a caster (He could in fact be a Bard Oo)

Music doesn't do damage, neither does musical instruments...
Music does..however...provide magical effects like healing and comfusing enemies

If I remember correctly, bards are kind of like a buff/support class. I personnally think it would be cool to have a bard, but the GW bard would obviously deviate from the norm. They would have to add some attack skills as well. And I think they might have to rename it too.
But the angelic feather harp of pwness would completely rock.
Also, Actionjack, who is renown for his class ideas, has already attampted a Bard type class. I'll add the link in case you wanna check it out.

the mesmer class is founded on the same concept as the bardic classes, the performing arts and thus we have illusion, inspiration and domination

the mesmer is ....... I wanna say just RELATED to the bard in a remote sense
When I first saw the mesmer, it reminded me of like a nobleman or like some kind of guy at a masquerade
When you think of a bard, you usually think of a traveling musician and such.
Or to a very lesser extent, you can also think of something like a jester.. with the jester hat and all.
and I agree =) angelic feather harp of pwness would be da shizzle.
So would the Piccolo of infernal darkness O_O
hmmm.... actually now that you talk about the guitar.... they could make it like a warrior type deal
Harps are ranged weapons you pull back hard on the strings with, and guitars and melee >.> (lutes, mandolins, violins, etc.) and flutes could be like blowguns O_O

I like RO's Bard... because they are 2nd class from the Archers... so they could use their string instrment to shoot arrows! The female would be a dancer, who use whip. I know it won't fit into GW, but just sound like a fun idea.
On Guitar as melee weapon....what? Guitar are usually hollow inside, and made of wood... which make it not a very good weapon. Unles you go with steel guitar....
Personally, I just don't see musical instrment as a weapon. Would use for skills/spells that use sound to damage and causing neagive effect, but just strange as a regular weapon alone.

I don't think the double bladed staff was a blade top and bottom.. I think it was like an elongated double bladed axe... Like a staff with a headpiece that had a blade on each side.
Oh, and is this even a concept thread?..

whatever a Mesmer is huh...... Mesmers are too underapreciated *cries*.
Ive said this many times before, the definition of a mesmers inspiration does nothing for his/her allies... Im going to write up some skills...

Just give the mesmer some AoE "song" type skills and let him be able to weild a guitar. BAM, instant bard. Also, tights and a green feathered hat.

Like as if Mesmers don't already wear tight clothes... lol
One thing, what bout counters to singing songs? Backfire works with spells, but not songs. For this reason, there should be a Necromancer hex called "Sore Throat" which makes the characters throat sore, thus dealing damage whenever they sing a song.
Sore Throat
Hex Spell. For 8...18 seconds, every time that foe sings a song, that foe takes 35...119 damage.
Now that hex will make a Bard shut up for 18 seconds!

I like the idea of a Bard type of class - it's been mentioned before in here.
Mesmers are sort of performers and such but probably more like magicians than singers. A bard with various different songs/dirges and such would be nice.
I'm sure the concept has crossed the minds of Anet designers... seems a natural addition for the next chapter.

Have you ever been hit in the head with a Stratocaster?
Actually, I think Bard would be a great addition. One of the first games I bought was The Bard's Tale (the original from 1984, not the recent horror). And the Bard was actually a pretty good character.
In fact, if done right, a Bard would be a very desierable character to have in a group. Most of the spells are direct effect (you cast, bad guy is hurt or good guy is healed). With a Bard, you could create classes of spells in which groups are effected.
And instead of giving them time limits, you have them work for as long as the character performs the action. So if you have a skill "Hit Harder", all characters in the party doing mele damage would do more, for as long as the bard plays. However, if they stop playing, the bonus goes away.
And we already have emotes for a lot of bard insturments. Flute, Guitar (mandolin), drums, and violin. And we even have a flute (although it is only good for giving to Gwen). Why not flesh it out?
And if you get snowed in during the winter, you also have a handy source of food. Just ask the players of Monty Python.
The winter was harsh, so they ate Robin's minstrils... and everybody rejoiced!
